Surgery Date Set

We met with the neurosurgeon and now have a surgery date of February 25. We would have preferred to get it over with sooner than that. It would have been convenient to have the operation over February school vacation, since DD16 will miss 2-3 weeks of school. However, we should know by now that major illness or medical issues are never convenient. It is what it is. I am working on acceptance, although my emotions swing wildly from day to day, sometimes from hour to hour.

So, our goal has been to stay healthy for surgery, and hopefully to promote a quicker recovery. The flu, however, has appeared in our community and we're just hoping that our flu shots are a good match this year. DD16 is getting over a bad cold, also making the rounds, but it hasn't really slowed her down.

Is it an illusion to blog about healthy choices when faced with something like this? I don't know, but I do feel it can't hurt to make the better choice, to take care of the "terrain" as it's called in David Servan-Schreiber's book.
